Memories off Tony We are sad to hear of the death of Tony ,he was our friend, our kids surrogate uncle,Phil knew him from college which was a long time ago, we joined them to celebrate their wedding, so we have known them for a while . His passion was his cars ,as was all the guys in our group of friends ,Dave,John,Pete and Phil. The Trans Am was my favourite but he’s had quite a few, he loved them all wrapping them up and putting them to bed in the winter. He was best man at our wedding in 1980 .Im sure he was involved of the decorating of our camper-van with rhododendrons inside and out,and the kippers. He was a larger than life character with a brilliant sense of humour and the biggest smile and gave the biggest hugs, We had many camping ventures when the children came along .I gained a nickname over the years I’ve always been called Polly , I believe some of carols family have only known me by Polly .Theres a story around that nickname but to you Tony I will always be Polly. When you visited them you would always laugh there would always be Tony wearing his famous dressing gown! I’m sure the neighbours and residents of Lodge drive will miss the view. They have both been a major feature in our family’s lives ,christenings, weddings and lately funerals. He visited the weekend before he passed armed with the usual Almond croissants along with obligatory cup of tea.so the news was such a shock. So Tony , we make a promise to you we will continue to support Carol , Alison ,Stefan and family’s . You will be sadly missed by The Hales clan . We will drink a Toast to you on your Birthday on the 3rd and drink a toast when we say goodbye.
